During the annual faculty and staff opening meeting, Head of School Dr. Catherine Hall presented Mike McHugh, director of the buildings and grounds department, with the 2017 Cora Hidalgo Holland award.
The award commemorates the kindness and warmth of Nobles parent Cora Hidalgo Holland by annually recognizing a Nobles staff member who contributes to the community through excellent work, character and dedication.
McHugh has earned the respect and admiration of the school community through his humor, patience and work ethic. He is well regarded not only among his colleagues at buildings and grounds, but also among the students.
Domenic Nardone '16 remembers McHugh serving as "van leader" for a group of volunteers on the 2015 New Orleans trips. Nardone says, "Mike made my NOLA experience so special. He knew how to motivate our van group to do our best work, and he took the time to get to know each of us on a personal level. He made mundane construction tasks interesting and fun. I couldn't have asked for a better chaperone than Mr. McHugh."
