During this year’s opening meetings for faculty and staff, Head of School Cathy Hall, Ph.D., presented Michelle Lynch with the Cora Hidalgo Holland Award, given each year in recognition of a staff member whose work has been excellent, whose dedication has been exceptional, and whose character has made Nobles a better place in which to live and work. The annual award is named after Nobles parent Cora Hidalgo Holland, who died in the terrorist attacks on September 11.
“While celebrating Michelle is quite easy to do, it is hard to know where to begin,” said Dr. Hall. “Her immense intellect and talent are matched by her hard work and exceptional problem-solving ability. These attributes are complemented by her kindness, her eagerness to help others, and her warm, playful personality. Quite simply, Michelle Lynch makes us a better community in every way possible.”
Mrs. Lynch started working at Nobles in 2007 as a member of the development office team. Through her expertise in database management, she quickly became a cornerstone of fundraising operations. She spent a brief stint of time away from Nobles starting in 2019, but returned in as the registrar and student information system manager in 2021.
“Michelle Lynch is one of those all-around great people who is a treat to work with in any capacity,” Shared Dean of Faculty Maura Sullivan. “People flock to the academic office not only for the coffee but also because Michelle is brilliant, fun to be around, can answer just about any question, and is willing to go the extra mile for people. She is my go-to person for all things and I know I am not alone in feeling that way!”
History faculty member Michael Denning echoed Mrs. Sullivan’s words of admiration and appreciation. “Working closely with Michelle Lynch has been one of my career’s greatest privileges. An outstanding problem solver, Michelle brings brilliance, tremendous energy and commitment, creativity, and deep care to all that she does. Nobles’ students and employees have been the beneficiaries of her years of amazing service. Michelle is an unsung hero…until now…and I am so pleased she is receiving this well-deserved honor.”
Database Administrator Tessy Smith captured Michelle’s impact perfectly, saying, “I’ve waited 18 years for this day! Michelle does everything. She is the first person to step in where needed even though she already has a full-time job. From coaching to helping with attendance, sitting at the front desk, helping with middle school events, helping development, working with Flik and so much more, there isn’t a thing she doesn’t say yes to. Most importantly, she is one of the best friends I have ever had. I am so thankful she came back to us!”
